Figurative Series

For many years I have met with a group to paint and draw from a live model. This series has grown out of that experience. Figurative art seems to naturally evoke a story. I continue to work with the figure because I enjoy the challenge it brings to the process of making art.

 

Abstract Series

This series of paintings has grown out of my interest in grids. In the urban environment where I live the grid is constantly coming in contact with natural elements. I observe the city grid responding to the flow of a river. I notice the way a side walk gives way and cracks under pressure from the soil below. I see the many ways natural elements try to take back the structural grids of buildings. I am fascinated by the variation one can achieve within a structured pattern and the juxtaposition of structured patterns and natural elements.
